Eileen Gray : Architect/Designer
Architects and designers the world over revere the name of Eileen Gray (1878-1976). Her Transat and Bibendum chairs, E. 1027 chrome-and-glass table, Satellite mirror, and pioneering lamps have become modern classics; museums and collectors covet her luxurious screens, tables, and other objects in lacquer, a laborious age-old medium that she infused with a new aesthetic. Yet very little was known about the life of this extraordinary woman until the publication of this first full-scale biography by documentary filmmaker Peter Adam, a longtime friend of the designer.
