Douglas Adams created all the various and contradictory manifestations of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: radio, novels, TV, computer game, stage adaptations, comic book and bath towel. In addition to Hitchhiker's series, his aptly named trilogy-in-five-parts, he is also the author of the Dirk Gently novels: Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, The Long Dark Tea Time of the Soul, and the unfinished The Salmon of Doubt. Douglas Adams was born in Cambridge and lived with his wife and daughter in London, England, before moving to California, where he died suddenly in 2001. Chris Riddell , the 2015-2017 UK Children's Laureate, is an accomplished artist and the political cartoonist for the Observer. His books for children have enjoyed great acclaim and won a number of major prizes, including the 2001, 2004 and 2016 CILIP Kate Greenaway Medals. In 2013, Goth Girl and the Ghost of a Mouse won the Costa Children's Book Award. His work for Macmillan includes the middle grade series Ottoline and The Cloud Horse Chronicles Duology, as well as the picture books The Emperor of Absurdia, Wendel and the Robots, and Once Upon a Wild Wood. Chris has been honoured with an OBE in recognition of his illustration and charity work.

He lives in Brighton, England with his family.
