This book is a depiction of the pain and joy of the last group of Migrant Potato workers that left St. Augustine, Florida destine for Long Island, New York in 1961. Some of those Migrant Workers had made the same trip from St. Augustine, Florida to Long Island for the last twelve years before 1961 but the year 1961 was the13th and the last year a group of Migrant Potato Workers like that would make that trip. One reason was in 1962 a machine was invented that replace 80% of migrant workers needed to harvest the potato crops in America. The other reason was the world was changing and that particular group of Migrant Workers out of St. Augustine, Florida where un-educated and could not read or write. After 1961 their llives were shattered into splinters only to encounter more pain and suffering than they encountered in the potato fields.
