Charlie Picasso (no relation to the famous Pablo Picasso) has never been much of an artist--he can barely draw a stick figure without messing it up. But his life takes an unexpected turn when his art teacher hands him an old pencil during class. It seems ordinary enough at first. until Charlie discovers it can make his drawings come to life. Exciting, right? Not exactly. The things Charlie creates have minds of their own--and they don't always behave as planned. Charlie quickly realizes he'll need more than luck to handle the chaos. With his trusty sketchbook and a growing determination, Charlie sets out to solve the problems he's created.

Along the way, he discovers that to master the pencil, he'll have to practice--and maybe even learn how to draw for real. Can Charlie take control of the pencil's power before it's too late? Or will his creations draw him into even bigger trouble?.
