Elaine M. Alexander worked as a pizza cook, receptionist, bill collector, and freelance journalist before becoming a librarian. She is the author of a novel for young readers and of Anglerfish: The Seadevil of the Deep , illustrated by Fiona Fogg and winner of a Bank Street College Cook Prize. A fan of dark mysteries and the natural world, she is fascinated by all things extraordinary and unique. Currently a youth services librarian, Elaine M. Alexander lives with her family in Connecticut. David Litchfield is the author-illustrator of several picture books, including the award-winning The Bear and the Piano and its sequel, The Bear, the Piano, the Dog, and the Fiddle .
