Fifteen-year-old Molly-visiting her aunt in Salem, Massachusetts, while her professor mom goes on a job interview in Boston-is in danger. First, Dora, the owner of the antique shop next door, dies in a mysterious fire, and then Brian, the son of the owner of the bookstore, falls overboard during a cruise and drowns.
