Well-planned play is the key way young children learn. Science and Technology for the Early Years is divided into two sections. The first contains ideas on how to design resource areas to stimulate puposeful play. The second contains 120 planned science and technology activities. Each activity is clearly laid out with a purpose, a list of resources, and any safety points. Assessment is an integral part of the book and the activities are matched to the Early Learning Goals, as well as to the content areas of the National Curriculum so as to provide a smooth transition from the Foundation Stage to Key Stage 1.
