"Must be a storm." Jeremy tried to sound confident. "It's not a storm, Jeremy." Lydia's face was white and her voice faded into a whisper. "Please, you've got to let me go." They didn't seem to hear her. Their eyes were riveted on the swirling water before them. It rose slowly as if the waves were standing, then moved forward with hypnotic swiftness.

Lydia screamed as the waters dove toward them. The salty spray wrapped around her, wrenching her from their grasp and pulling her into its depth.
