Driven by an intense curiosity and desire to discover what plants and animals live in and around the oceans, Sylvia Earle became exploring and studying underwater habitats. At a time when women didn't usually work in science, she began her career as a marine biologist and deep-sea diver, and became one of the world's foremost defenders of the sea and its creatures.
