On the afternoon of October 20, 1967, in the mountains of Northern California, Roger Patterson, accompanied by Bob Gimlin, filmed a legendary creature, dubbed "Bigfoot" or "Sasquatch." The film was shown to American scientists at the Smithsonian Institution, who took one quick look at wrote it off as a fake. A determined Sasquatch hunter, Rene Dahinden, of British Columbia, Canada, stepped in, and too the filmstrip to Moscow, to be examined by Russian researchers. Russian hominologists studied the movie in depth, and found it to be authentic. As this now means Bigfoot may be real, the implications are momentous. This is the inside story of the Patterson film, warts and all, as viewed from an objective outside observer with proper credentials for decoding the facts. The story, being fact, not fiction, concerns not only Americans and Russians, but also every human being on Earth, for it pertains to the origin of mankind. Dmitri Bayanov is considered to be Russia's greatest Bigfoot expert.

He is a founding member of the International Society of Cryptozoology, having served on its board for 10 years. He has been been engaged in hominid research since 1964, and has been chairman of the Hominoid Research Seminar at the Darwin Museum since 1975. His previous book is "In the Footsteps of the Russian Snowman.".
