COWBOY ETIQUETTE For Miss Manners, 'cause nobody's perfect. 1. Etiquette is the difference between stable manners and table manners. 2. Good etiquette starts with a smile. 3. No matter the circumstances and no matter who you're with at the time you should still be sociable and comport yourself in a tolerant friendly manner. In other words, keep your boarding house reach in check and don't dribble on your boots.

4. There's a lot of greeting that go with a handshake. A lot of folks nowadays are saying, "What's up?" or "How you doing?" or "How's it going?" I don't know if you noticed or not, but all these are question. Prying into other people's affairs right out of the box is not exactly the most polite way to say howdy. The proper cowboy etiquette here is to be aware of where the sun is before you speak and follow that handshake with a simple one word greeting of "Morning," "Afternoon," or "Evening." 5. Raising the toilet seat is always the right thing to do. And, don't forget to set it back down when you're done.

And, in all fairness, cowgirls should raise it up when they get done. This way it's nearly always wrong when you get there, but good etiquette requires everybody to be fair.
