Enoch Arnold Bennett (1867-1931) was a prolific English author renowned for his novels and contributions to literature and media. Over his career, spanning the 1890s to the 1930s, Bennett authored 34 novels, seven short story collections, and 13 plays, some in collaboration with other writers. He also maintained a daily journal exceeding a million words and contributed articles and stories to more than 100 newspapers and periodicals. During the First World War, Bennett worked in the Ministry of Information and briefly led its operations. In the 1920s, he expanded his repertoire to include screenwriting for cinema. Known for his keen insight into human nature and society, Bennett's works achieved significant commercial success, establishing him as the most financially successful British author of his time.
