'I find that the Oxford Handbook Of Urology, 2nd edition became 'My professional guideline'. Thanks to this book my work at the department, at the clinic and the operating theatre became much better. I wish to thank the authors of this fantastic book for all the tools it is giving me.'Ilan Gielchinsky, Dept. of Urological Surgery, Hadassah Medical Center, Israel'This year's follow-up on the now landmark 2005 first edition provides an excellent update and in my view an improvement on its predecessor. I could not speak highly enough of this book as a revision aid. It is difficult to beat such a detailed source of information presented in such an accessible manner. As useful today as the Handbook of Medicine was for us as house officers.
'Urology News'Despite being designed as a quick reference book it is really quite detailed. I have found it very suitable as the basis to grill specialist registrars revising for the final FRCS exam . Overall, I think this is an excellent book and the authors are to be congratulated for producing a book so useful across the spectrum of potential readers.'Surg Engl'It consists of 19 chapters, which present a pithy account of subjects ranging from incontinence, urology surgery and equipment, and stone disease. There is also a useful section entitled urological eponyms. This handbook is primarily aimed at the trainee, but I think it can be studied by trainees at all levels. FY1 and FY2 doctors would find it useful vade macum. Controversies are generally handled well, e.
g. the section on screening of prostate cancer. Each topic is dealt with in sufficient detail to provide provision for examinations and I suspect if would be useful light reading for a candidate about to take the FRCS Urol. The authors are to be congratulated on yet another triumph in this excellent series.'L Moffat, The Surgeon.
