Since Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden life has not been easy for any in the human race. Struggles and sweat, hardship and pain, sickness and suffering, all resulted from Adam's fall. None in human history has ever been exempted from the curse -- or have they? Are God's people under the curse of Adam? Must they suffer the way unbelievers do? Some are convinced that a prosperous, trouble-free life is a sign of God's blessing and a reward for godliness. They believe that those who endure suffering and persecution have brought it on themselves by their disobedience and lack of faith. Is that what the Scriptures teach? Just what are the promises of God regarding suffering for believers? Long forgotten by much of the Church, these promises must be understood and embraced by every believer.
