Luis, a poor peasant in the medieval city of Bilbao, Spain, longs for a change in his humdrum life of bowyership. After his best friend vanishes, Luis sets out to find him but is hurled into a life-changing journey that takes him on a voyage across the sea. As Luis tries to find his way home, he faces many dangers and challenges as he uncovers secrets of his true identity. Meanwhile, France and Spain recover from a bloody war and attempt to seal their peace treaty through the marriage of the Prince of France and the Princess of Spain. However, the night before the wedding, the princess mysteriously disappears. Both kingdoms are sent into turmoil and another war looms at the doorstep. As the fate of both countries hangs in the balance, the unassuming peasant, Luis, is the only one who holds the key.
