The book moves between biography, history, anthropology and travel and will appeal to adventurous types who may have travelled into the Venezuelan junge themselves. Rudy Truffino was a legendary figure who established a civilization in the heart of the jungle, and performed opera, and became one of the natives. In 1956 Rudy Truffino became lost in the savannah and rainforest of the Orinocco in Venezuela. Saved by the Pemon Indians from death by starvation, he became immersed in their culture, and learnt their language and adopted their customs. Some years later, he helped establish and run a National Park in the area. Here he built a camp, and led many expeditions to the Auyun Tepi and accompanied many visitors to the longest waterfalls in the world - Angel Falls.
