For Lily Brown poetry is an escape into a world beyond the English leafy suburb in which she lives. Lily first started writing poetry at the tender age of 16. Her first being an acrostic poem called "Love" very short and sweet, but that still holds fond memories for her to this day. It set her on a path that has given her so much pleasure, from reading the words of her favourite poets such as A E Housman and Longfellow to inspiring her to write so many of her own, some of which are presented here for you to enjoy.Over the last 30 years poetry has introduced her to some amazing people who have influenced not only her work but also her day to day life. She hopes her readers will find inspiration enough to take up their own pens and write because poetry, like any art form, should be created and not just admired.
