Pat Brown, MBA is a financial educator, author, speaker, and former Division I athlete who has dedicated his career to empowering others through financial literacy. With over two decades of experience in the financial services and insurance industries, Pat has become a respected advocate for student-athletes navigating the complex intersection of sports, money, and opportunity-especially in the era of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). A proud graduate of the University of Kansas, Pat played football for the Jayhawks from 1994 to 1999, serving as team captain his senior year. After a brief stint in the CFL with the Calgary Stampeders, he transitioned from the gridiron to the world of finance, where he discovered a new mission: helping individuals, families, and especially athletes, build strong financial foundations. Pat's passion for financial literacy is deeply personal. Raised in a working-class household where money wasn't openly discussed, he vividly remembers feeling unprepared during his first financial literacy class in college. That experience sparked a lifelong commitment to mastering financial principles-and teaching them in ways that resonate with young people. As the founder of multiple educational platforms-including Financial Literacy for NIL, Financial Literacy for Student Athletes, and Financial Literacy for The Culture-Pat has created resources, books, and digital tools tailored specifically for high school and college athletes.
His work combines real-world financial knowledge with athlete-centered insight, providing guidance on budgeting, credit, taxes, investing, entrepreneurship, insurance, and long-term wealth building. Pat's approach is grounded in authenticity, community, and service. He speaks regularly at schools, churches, hospitals, and athletic programs, sharing his story and educating others on how to make smart financial decisions. He also serves as a trustee on the board of Lawrence Memorial Hospital and is deeply involved in mentoring the next generation of leaders. Through his books, speaking engagements, and innovative app Financial Literacy Culture, Pat Brown continues to shape a future where athletes don't just succeed in sports-they thrive in life.
