Comic trivia: Hagar's name was inspired by an incident in Dik Browne's household. His sons, Chris and Bob, were having an animated debate when their dad came down the stairs, yelling at the boys to keep quiet. One of the boys wisecracked "Well is it isn't Hagar the Horrible", and a star was born!.
