Barbara Brownie is a senior lecturer in Visual Communication at the University of Hertfordshire, UK where she leads online postgraduate study in graphic design and illustration, and lectures in fashion theory. Barbara has two main research areas, kinetic typography and clothing and costume. She is the author of Transforming Type (Bloomsbury, 2014) and has contributed to edited collections including Writing Design (Grace-Lees Maffei (ed), Berg, 2011). Barbara also authors Costume & Culture for The Guardian newspaper's Fashion Network in the UK, which explores clothes as material culture. Her writing for The Guardian has provided the foundation for presentations at various international academic conferences on the themes of fashion, costume, and cultural history. Barbara's previous writings have explored film costume, trans-status disguise, the performance of ordinariness, and clothes as objects. She has contributed to The Journal of Clothing Cultures and Fashion- Exploring Critical Issues. Danny Graydon is a critic, author and academic specialising in film and comics.

A veteran contributor to Empire magazine, Danny has been a Visiting Lecturer for The School of Creative Arts at University of Hertfordshire, UK since 2009 teaching Critical & Cultural Studies in the subject areas of Digital Animation, Model Special Effects (MSFX) and Screen & Media Cultures. He has also taught at Kingston University, UK, since 2012, contributing to the Film BA and MA programmes. His main research interests include- the superhero genre in its various forms (particularly related to DC Comics), the work of Alan Moore, film music, the cinema of The New Hollywood, screen-based science fiction and fantasy, special effects (practical and digital) and the work of Steven Spielberg. Danny has appeared on television and radio as a specialist interviewee on film and comics for international media outlets as the BBC, Channel 4, Press TV and MGM HD. Danny has contributed to a wide array of national and international publications since 1998, including Variety Weekly, BBC Online, Film Four, Yahoo!, SFX Magazine, SciFiNow, Comic Heroes and The First Post.
