Manoj Kumar Buragohain is a scientist with over three decades of experience in composites. He is passionate about product development - structural and configuration design, processing, testing, and innovation. His particular interest is in filament winding, including the computational and processing nuances involved in the design and development of filament-wound structures. He also has a keen interest in teaching. He studied composites at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras after graduating from the National Institute of Technology Rourkela. Currently, he is a senior scientist at the Advanced Systems Laboratory in Hyderabad, India, of the Defence Research & Development Organisation. Also, he is an Adjunct Faculty at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad. He is the author of a comprehensive book titled "Composite Structures: Design, Mechanics, Analysis, Manufacturing, and Testing" and has published several papers in both national and international journals and conferences.
He remains professionally active and currently serves as the Chairman of the Hyderabad Chapter of the Indian Society for Advancement of Materials and Process Engineering (ISAMPE). He has received several accolades for his contributions to the development of composites, including the National Science Day Commendation Certificate & Silicon Medal, Laboratory Scientist of the Year, DRDO Award for Performance Excellence, Agni Award for Excellence in Self-reliance, DRDO Scientist of the Year, and the ISAMPE Certificate for Outstanding Design and Process Development.
