Travels in Arabia by John Lewis Burckhardt Johann Ludwig (also known as John Lewis, Jean Louis) Burckhardt (November 24, 1784 - October 15, 1817) was a Swiss traveller and orientalist. He wrote his letters in French and signed as "Louis." He is best known for rediscovering the ruins of the city of Petra in Jordan. This is his account of the discovery and travels. We are delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive Classic Library collection. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public.
