The Sacred Heart invites contemplative action, uniting human dignity with divine love in Christ. Dilexit Nos, the 2024 Encyclical from Pope Francis, offers an inspiring reflection on the Sacred Heart of Jesus and how this familiar image helps us reflect on how human love and divine love live as one in the person of Jesus Christ. The image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus connects time and eternity, human and divine, yesterday, today and tomorrow. In The Living Image, Anna Burke calls us to contemplate the Sacred Heart and dwell in the heart-space, the centre of our identity. It is only in the heart-space that we can give authentic expression, in action and in relationship, to our human dignity. The suggested Scripture readings and points of reflection offered in The Living Image, inspired by the teaching of Dilexit Nos may assist our prayer time as we continue our journey to the heart of the matter.
