'No Resistance 'A very French Affair.' starts in the tension of occupied Normandy during August 1943. The title refers to the temptation that neither Célia, the lonely young wife of a French prisoner of war, nor the young RAF Pilot she is sheltering, can resist to a fleeting love affair. The week it lasted was to have a far further reaching effect for generations to come than they could have possibly imagined.In the late 1980's a young English builder and his family buy her house from the now aged Célia. Her happy memories of her Pilot lead her to take them into the heart of her family. Her son commissions Simon to build him a new house, and while excavating the site he discovers the burnt out wreck of a WW2 aircraft.The daughter of the local Resistance leader reveals that she watched the crash as a young girl and tells the story surrounding it.

The exciting action takes place in London, the Sussex Downs, Brighton, and The bay of Mont Saint Michel in Normandy with a strong emphasis on the world of light aviation and the passion many of the characters share for flying. Caroline Burt draws on her experiences of living in Normandy and the people she meets as inspirations for her novel of which this is the first. The basic idea was triggered by the making of "Populaire", a film by Régis Roinsard in her local village.
