Born in UK 1950, a child of loving parents -a Theatre Director and Actress- always on the move.Degree in English and American Literature. University of KentTeacher, lecturer and section head in schools and College in Portugal, Norway Bulgaria and UKSince 1977 I have split my life between Bulgaria and the UK and have been close to all the dramatic changes in Bulgaria especially since my retirement in 2007. I am bi-lingual and certainly bi-cultural.Since 2007 following the successful publication of my first novel, Far from the Danube, I have been concentrating on writing and translation. My second novel, Prudence and the Red Baron was published by Ciela in 2008 to critical acclaim. Radoslava and the Viking Prince was published by Millenium Press in 2011. I have had many articles published in Vagabond Magazine I have been translating Bulgarian writers for the Elizabeth Kostova Foundation since 2008For three years now I have used my website to publicise Bulgarian novelists, short story writers and poets.


Translations include significant 30 + page passages from novels: Emil Andreev's Crazy Luke, Kalin Terziiski's Madness, Ivailo Petrov's Wolf Hunt, Milen Ruskov's The Pinnacle (rendered into Essex dialect). I have translated contemporary short stories by Zack Karabashliev, Vasil Georgiev, Ivan Landzhev, Deyan Enev - alongside modern and classic poets and writers from Botev to Elin Pelin to Margarita Petkova.My translation of Rumen Balabanov's short short story The Ragiad was published in Dalkey Press's Best European Writing 2013.Further details visit www.christopherbuxton.com.
