Life's journey begins with a conventional upbringing in mid-twentieth century Ireland and follows a winding international path to an elusive final destination, involving frequent relocation and readjustment to new circumstances. The trail is littered with instances of fraud, corruption, cover-up and perfidy. Eventual disillusionment with poisonous office politics and personal blackballing precipitates a final spell of independent consulting in the gig economy. The ingredients in this potpourri of a life include: jumbo jets and supersonic aircraft; rugby, skiing and climbing; birthday lottery and draft dodging; Eurasia overland and Himalayan trekking; courtship and consummation; electric power generation; post-colonial Algeria and pre-revolutionary Iran; Suharto's Indonesia; and Celtic Tiger Dublin. Journey's end is followed by commentary on some spiritual, societal, institutional and personal issues.
