The novella 'The Postmodern Malady of Dr. Peter Hudson' documents the life of the mysterious Peter Hudson and his tragic fate. A man with a dark secret and a notorious past, it is love which may ultimately release him from his malady but love, in a postmodern world, is an ever-changing truth that lacks beauty. Although each of the eight stories in this collection are different, all share common characteristics.They are experiments, differing in convention, in characterisation and in genre but uniting around the common narratives of time, memory and identity. The tropes of crime, murder and the paranormal are used to examine the contradictions between the abstract understanding and the physical reality - the lived experience - that compose and construct human lives. These are stories about the reconciliation of those ideas in the midst of the human obsession with immortality and frailty.
