This book examines the causes and effects of spiritual abuse in our churches. Many think that physical, emotional, domestic violence and bullying happen only in the community outside of the Church, but research has shown that the incidence of bullying and abuse is only one percent lower in the churches than what it is in the secular community. I have taken a lot of content from my own experience in the churches I have associated with, at rank and file and leadership, also that of my friends who have share their experiences of abuse at the hands of church leaders and "shepherds". I have quote extensively from Scripture to show the Bible standard concerning how Christian pastors, leaders, and disciplers should relate to vulnerable members of their churches. This is a comprehensive and hard-hitting study, designed to challenge ministers, pastors, elders and others in church leadership positions. It is also directed to victims of spiritual abuse so that they can know that any sort of abuse in their church by anyone is totally unacceptable and that they don't have to accept it at any level. We need to stand up to bullies and assert ourselves as children of God who need to be treated with respect and dignity. The role of church leaders and members is a disciple others as Christ discipled His inner twelve men.
Good, non-bullying discipleship reflects the love and spirit of Christ. There is no other standard than this.
