London in the 1980s. Thatcherism is in full flight and everyone seems to be making money. Everyone, that is, except X. Fed up with being broke, he makes a decision to abandon all his principles and grab a slice of the good life for himself. He succeeds, but his rags to riches story is interrupted by overwhelming visions of a different, better world - a world where he is an anointed individual, a 'Seeker of Sweden' with a unique destiny to fulfil. Are the dreams really a gateway to a parallel universe or is he just losing his mind? Is the dreamworld really a utopia, or something more sinister?
