Apocalypse Now is a retelling of Joseph Conrad's classic novella Heart of Darkness -- set in the Vietnam War. Captain Willard, a U.S. Army intelligence officer (Sheen) is sent on a hazardous mission up river into Cambodia to terminate "with extreme prejudice" an American renegade Colonel named Kurtz (Brando) who has spun out of control and out of his mind. With Apocalypse Now Coppola presented a definitive vision of the madness and folly of war in our times. The film stars Marlon Brando, Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, Laurence Fishburne, Dennis Hopper and Harrison Ford.features an introduction by Francis Ford Coppola and includes the entire screenplay of the updated version of the film.
