The creation of Eve is based on the true story of the unknown Sofonisba Anguissola, a Renaissance painter who rose to fame thanks to his magnificent portraits, but was then forgotten by official history. Sofonisba Anguissola is a daughter of a bookseller in Cremona. After several years as apprentice to the master painter Michelangelo, and after a scandal in his workshop, Sofonisba should leave Italy and move to the court of Philip II to be maid of honor of the new young queen, Elizabeth of Valois. The third wife of the monarch is still a child and the young painter approaches her to become her friend and confidant. Anguissola narrate her experiences in a diary and also describe the suffering of the young queen.
