Brian Brown isn't dead. Not quite. But when he nods off on his commute, he wakes up in Limbo; a mundane office eerily similar to his own, complete with an aging clerk and an impossible to obtain death certificate. He realises there must be a mistake, but by this point it is too late: his body, having mysteriously gained new powers, has disappeared without him to roam the mortal world. Brian is left stranded, caught in the web of a stiflingly bureaucratic Afterlife. Things only get stranger. God (short, petulant, and politically embattled) offers Brian a way home, but only if he'll help save Religion from irrelevance. Time, a weary matron with a plan to stop everything forever, has other ideas.
