I trained as a science teacher in Canterbury. I then worked for some 30 years in Kent in local Secondary Schools. For much of this I was not only teaching Science, but also a Pastoral Head of year. I gained further qualifications with the open University finally achieving an MA Ed. In the churchI attended I became very involved and eventually became a licensed reader. The training included three years with the South East Institute of Theologogal Education where gained a further qualification in Christian Theology.I retired from teaching early and my wife and I set up our own business making items out of turned wood and selling them at caft fairs and other outlets. With church duties a very busy time.
Just over three years ago we moved to the South of France, into a valley with a strong church history. Goths, visigoths, Cathars, nights Templars, as well as the Roman church. Also the centre of the foundation of the Inquisition, burning the Cathars, the Albigensian Crusade killing heretics, and other attrocities. I started to get intrigued by the history of the church, and how the message of the love of God could cause this bloodshed. The result is this book.I have also started a website with the same name, offering materials aimed for discussion groups or private devotion based purely upon the Gospels. One section has reflectons on the weeks allocated Gospel reading. I have been surprised by the difference in the Gospel message and what many of the churches seem to believe.
The websites free, give it a try.
