The number of cases under the European Human Rights Convention has been steadily increasing. This work provides students with a thorough introduction to the Convention and the way it has affected the legal system in the UK and Ireland. It analyzes cases from Britain and Ireland which have been decided by the European Commission and the Court of Human Rights; examines the consequences those decisions have had within the domestic legal system concerned and the impact on other legal systems of Britain and Ireland; and considers what account has otherwise been taken of the European Convention in the case law, legislation and administrative practices of each legal system.
