John Frederick Dixon considers himself a Tasmanian despite being born in Victoria, Australia. He was a keen and adept and highly proficient sportsman, horseman and bushman in his youth. He joined the RAAF as an officer but ended up with the United Nations working in conflict zones throughout South-east Asia, France, Bosnia, Italy, Germany, East Africa and Sri Lanka in roles ranging from Military Liaison, Air Operations, Regional Security and head of various UN Offices. John has been highly commended and decorated for his services before retiring in 2007 and now resides on the Gold Coast in Queensland, still occasionally acting as security consultant to several UN organisations.
