Growing up on the south side of Chicago as a young black male, your choices seem slim. Instead of a silver spoon, Sean Dockery was born with a basketball in his hand. From his point of view, he talks about life as it relates to basketball and the journey that he embarked on years ago. This has ultimately given him a perspective on life that most could not fathom. He has been blessed with a talent to play basketball at a level that has enabled him to be viewed and revered as one of the most spectacular players coming out of Chicago. Sean finally builds up the courage to tell his story. He discusses: almost being killed after a car he was in was shot up; the reason he picked Duke to further his educational and professional goals; life after not making it to the NBA; drinking and partying; and finally the call that changed his life. From the outside looking in, the world only sees the story of triumph, a lifestyle that they wish to have and a privileged ball player.
Unfortunately, for those that have traveled down the same path they can relate to his story of hard work and a passion to play the game. That same game that can become a scapegoat from reality that eventually leads to depression. In this book, Sean takes the reader on an excursion where he finally opens his heart and frees his mind to exhale the ups, the downs and ultimately "The Last Shot".
