Joltin' Jim McCoy is a major Country Music figure in the Winchester, Va.-Berkeley Springs, W. Va. region. He led bands all over West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland and Pennsylvania.A teenaged Patsy Cline sang with Jim on his radio show in 1946 and his group backed her at times throughout her career. He remained close friends with Patsy's husband, Charlie Dick, who wrote the introduction to the book.A recording artist and songwriter in his own right, Jim made records in Nashville in the 1960s.

Later, he ran his own labels and recorded dozens of regional performers. All the while, he was a DJ based in Winchester and organized Country Music shows and music for the town's Apple Blossom Festival.Illustrated with photos from Jim's scrapbooks, Joltin' Jim offers a closeup look at a colorful personality.
