Pulling from decades of experience, observations and training, Kristin and Elaine collaborated to create the Brain Friendly Reading approach. Carefully curated and field tested, this program is guided by the latest brain research and is useful for children and adults who are new readers or struggling readers. The Lesson Book contains over 80 individual lesson pages that are designed to provide instruction and repetition with the new sounds (graphemes), spelling rules and syllable division patterns. The lessons begin with the short vowel sounds and cover the skills typically taught in traditional Orton-Gillingham Level I programs. The BFR approach includes a highly-effective instructional strategy: chart tapping. All five BFR Charts are included in the Lessons Book along with instructions about how to use this work in individual and whole group teaching environments.
