Joseph Fasano was born in Suffern, New York, in 1982. He earned his BA from Harvard in 2005 and his MFA from Columbia University in 2008. He won the 2008 RATTLE Poetry Prize, and he has been a finalist for the Jeffrey E. Smith Editors' Prize from The Missouri Review, the Times Literary Supplement Poetry Competition, the Kinereth Gensler Award from Alice James Books, and the Autumn House Press Poetry Prize, among other honors. His poems have appeared in The Yale Review, The Southern Review, Boston Review, FIELD, Tin House, Measure, Passages North, and other publications. His work has been featured on Verse Daily and in the Academy of American Poets' poem-a-day program. Fugue for Other Hands, his first book, won the 2011 Cider Press Review Book Award, judged by Jeanne Marie Beaumont. He teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate writing programs at Columbia University.
