Some years ago Gabriel Fitzmaurice published three books of poetry in Irish along with a couple of poetry books, also in Irish, for children. They were welcomed for the independence of this new voice in Irish poetry. These books are long out of print. Now, Fitzmaurice has chosen twenty of these poems to be reprinted in this book. He has also translated them into English. In these poems he deals with love, politics, angst, faith, music and poetry in a voice that is at once traditional and new. Illustrated by Brenda Fitzmaurice these poems will bring immediate pleasure to the reader, while at the same time making them ponder what is being said.
