In the call of the first disciples, Jesus said to Simon and his brother, Andrew, "Come follow me and I will make you fishers of men. They immediately abandoned their nets and became his followers" (Matthew 19:20). Many people receive moments that prove to be turning points in their lives. They are forced to make a fundamental decision. After which, their lives are never the same again. Sometimes, it comes as a moment of illumination of the mind. If responded to, that person is on a new path. If not responded to, it may never return.

At other times, it comes as a gradual change. All the followers of Jesus are called to "be Christ bearers." This novelette is a collection of short stories of real people and how they responded to the call of the Lord to live the gospel message in their faith response. Each one responded differently to the Lord's call. All the stories are true. However, most people did not want to be identified. As such, I only used their Christian names, and at other times, I changed the name to protect their identity. These stories are not exhaustive by any means.

They were people I met along the road on my own faith journey, and they were an inspiration to me by the depth of love they had for the Lord and their fellow human beings. They were certainly bearers of Christ. The name Christopher comes from two Greek words, Christos and Opher, which literally mean "be a Christ bearer.".
