New funny series: The first book in Arvaaq Press' new Umingmak and Fox series about two animal friends, Umingmak (whose name is Inuktitut for muskox) and Fox. These books aim to be engaging for young readers thanks to their humour and fun artwork. Visual format similar to a comic book: The book contains simple dialogue and illustrations that are reminiscent of comic books. There are colourful speech bubbles and amusing, expressive faces. Literacy and conversation: The characters are chatty and often joking with each other in a conversational style. This allows children to develop their literacy skills in a fun context that focuses on dialogue and incorporates lots of humour. Seasons: There is educational content about the reason for extended darkness during winters in polar regions. It is conveyed in a simple way, suitable for the age level.
