Wild Blue Yonder begins in South Carolina, citca 1943, with 16-year-old Earl Edge: small-town troublemaker running out of options. With police and truant officers on his tail, young Edge sees no way out but to lie about his age and join the Air Force. It's an engrossing story that depicts World War II from the viewpoint of the guy at the bottom of the totem pole.
