When did I know that I was on a shamanic journey? I didn't suddenly think, 'I am a shaman. Let's do it!' No, it gradually grew from when I was young, and I discovered that my understanding of life, of gently walking on the Earth, was a shamanic way of living. There was one time, when I was actually at a Spiritualist retreat, we had to go and touch or hug trees and then report back what we felt, heard, thought etc. and no-one seemed to have anything to say, and I felt silly when I said, 'I felt strength.' But the conveners were really happy with my answer as I had apparently contacted the energy of the tree. We are all a part of Nature in our own way, like cogs in a wheel, and without each one of us, the wheel wouldn't turn. So from feeling that in the overall scheme of things we are very insignificant, we actually have a very important role to play. We would be notable missed if we weren't here.

Shamanism is the most ancient spiritual practice of all and is a journey, a spiritual journey of the self, on the path of love and harmony. The focus is not on the destination but on the journey itself, on doing and being, experiencing and knowing.
