Flying Dinosaur of Myrtle Beach Myrtle Beach, South Carolina Summer 2004 Calleigh watched out the car window. She and her boyfriend, Leo, had just passed through a tiny town that had barely more than a gas station, a bar, and a church. Now they were speeding along the forest road, pine trees lining both sides. "Thanks again for getting off the highway," she said with a yawn. It was dark. They had left Roanoke late that afternoon and were finally closing in on their destination: Myrtle Beach. Leo laughed. "I'd rather take longer to get there than worry about you freaking out about the interstate.

Besides, I don't mind the backroads. It's all about the journey, right?" She smiled and looked at him, but her smile quickly disappeared. Something was flapping right outside his window--as if someone's bed sheets had been hanging out to dry and blew off the line. Calleigh's mind raced to recognize what she was seeing. There were too many trees for it to be someone's laundry. No, it was something flying, something with huge wings, something that resembled a pterodactyl. She screamed, "Go, go, go!" She felt certain it was coming for them, and she was afraid it might kill them. Recognizing her terror, Leo punched the gas.

Later, they stopped to look at the car. A slimy, grayish-green blob of goo--like something from a bad sinus infection--was smeared across the driver's side door. Leo tried to wipe it away, but it wouldn't come off. "This is crazy," Calleigh said. "What do you suppose it could be?" He shrugged. "I don't know. Whatever it is, I can't get it off." In the years that followed, Calleigh and her boyfriend eventually broke up.

To her knowledge, he sold the car with the goop-smear still on it. The strange substance never came off the car's window. While she might have lost touch with Leo, she would never forget that frightening encounter. Was the creature a prehistoric beast that had somehow survived into the modern era? Had the couple experienced some sort of a time slip? These were questions they would never answer. However, one thing was certain: Something large left its mark on their vehicle. Calleigh only wishes that she had gotten a sample of the paranormal green goo.
