In the fall of 2016, after a retrospective in Houston and in my hometown of Chicago, and after retiring from teaching for 25 years, I started sorting through files of images I had collected for over 30 years. The recurring symbols in my art each had several, thick files: amaryllis, birds, sacred geometry, blood, keys, snakes, butterflies, shells and moons. This last year I have used the images in those files to create these collages, many being very specific to my own life experiences. The process of laying out the scraps of paper in these collages was a channeled experience, resulting in implausible compositions, subjects, and backgrounds. For me, each collage is a spiritual lesson in connectedness.
