Ashok Garg MS PhD is an excellent Anterior Segment Eye Surgeon Research Ophthalmologist of International repute doing pioneering work in the field of Ocular Therapeutics, SICS, Microphaco Refractive Surgery. He is also Head and Chairman of the Sam Rothberg Glaucoma Centre, at the Goldschleger Eye Institute, Sheba Medical Center, Tel-Hashomer, Israel. Dr. Melamed completed his Glaucoma Fellowship at the Harward University Medical School. He has published over 100 papers in peered reviewed scientific journals, edited 3 books and led many innovative research projects in Glaucoma especially Laser Trabeculoplasty, Laser Gonio Puncture, use of Ethacrinic Acid in glaucoma, ICG Tomography and Blood Flow imaging of the optic nerve head in glaucoma. He completed his graduation from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and joined Dr. Rajendra Prasad Centre for Ophthalmic Sciences as a postgraduate student. After completing his MD course in ophthalmology, he was a Senior Resident at the centre and then joined as a faculty member. Dr Tanuj Dada has won the DC Bhutani gold medal for the best undergraduate and the Bod Raj Sabherwal gold medal for the best postgraduate in ophthalmology, the Ophthalmic Research Association Award for the best Senior Resident and the Mohan Lal Wig gold medal for the best clinical research under the age of 35 years at All India Institute of Medical Sciences.
He has also been awarded the AC Agarwal Trophy for the best scientific paper thrice and the Trehan Trophy and certificate For Distinguished Resource Teacher by the Delhi Ophthalmological Society. He has also received the Silver Plate by European Glaucoma Society in 2004, for his work on Ultrasound Biomicroscopy in Glaucoma. He can be reached by E-mail: tanujdada@rediffmail.com Ahmad K Khalil MD PhD Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Glaucoma Service, Cairo Research Institute of Ophthalmology (RIO), Director, Eye Cairo Clinic, graduated from Cairo University Faculty of Medicine in 1985, where he received his training, obtained Master Degree in Ophthalmology with a thesis on the Triple Procedure; PK, ECCE, IOL implantation in 1989. In 1993, he documented for the first time the presence of any virus in the human cornea, when he directly detected HBV in corneas of infected patients, which was published as the landmark article of British Journal of Ophthalmology in January, 1995.
He obtained his Doctor of Medical Science in Ophthalmology and PhD from Kyushu University in Japan in 1998, where he has done extensive work on exfoliation and other types of glaucoma. He has been a biographee in Marquis Who's Who in the World and other Marquis publications since 1999, Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Society for Cataract and Corneal Diseases, and organizer of its annual meetings since 1999, Board Member and Office Bearer, Egyptian Society of the Glaucomas.
