VIC GEORGE is Emeritus Professor of Social Policy at the University of Kent and has taught at the Universities of Nottingham and Kent. They are joint of authors of British Society and Social Welfare (Palgrave, 1999) and Welfare and Ideology (Prentice Hall, 1994).
