Thonburi and the Old Burma Railway
The remaining section of the old Burma railway, built during World War II by forced labour under the supervision of the Japanese, runs from Nong Pladuk Junction to Nam Tok, in Thailand. We make a journey in photographs along the route taken by most tourists, starting at Thonburi station in Bangkok and ending at Nam Tok, looking at the railway as it is today. The steam locomotives along the route also feature. Nam Tok means waterfall and the railway does indeed finish at a waterfall, at Nam Tok, Sai Yok Noi.
