Bonnie Urquhart Gruenberg is a Certified Nurse-Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner, as well as an author, artist, and photographer. After training with a home birth practice serving predominantly Amish clients in Lancaster County, PA, she spent the next decade attending over 1500 births in tertiary care hospitals. In 2013, she returned to Lancaster County to attend births in a free-standing birth center, in the home, and in hospital. In 2008, she wrote Birth Emergency Skills Training (B.E.S.T.), which is featured on the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) written exam reference list for the Certified Professional Midwife.
It has been translated into Russian and has evolved into a dynamic and innovative live workshop (see www.BirthEmergency.com). Evidencing a lifelong passion for horses, Gruenberg has spent roughly two decades researching, photographing, and authoring books about the wild herds of Atlantic Coast barrier islands. The Wild Horse Dilemma, Conflicts and Controversies of the Atlantic Coast Herds, is the most comprehensive book on the topic and garnered excellent reviews. After obtaining her BSN as valedictorian at Southern Vermont College, she achieved her MSN at the University of Pennsylvania. She worked as a Connecticut paramedic for over a decade prior to her nursing and midwifery career. Learn more at www.
